FAQ
Question: What are the requirements for the hot water recirculation pump?
Answer:
- Pump parts that are exposed to contact with water must be made of corrosion-resistant materials. Tap water is a constant source of dissolved oxygen and salts, which are aggressive to metal parts.
- The pump’s hydraulic performance should be chosen correctly for the system’s actual needs. Due to low flow rate requirements, hot water recirculation doesn’t require a powerful pump. Oversizing a pump would lead to unnecessary spending, noise, and, if circulation operates 24/7, accelerated degradation of pipes.
- Automatic control. The benefits of a hot water recirculation system come with the price of increased heat loss. However, this can be significantly mitigated by reducing the circulation periods. Running the pump in smart control modes allows one to achieve this without reducing comfort.
