Grundfos to train Chinese mayors

In order to promote green growth during China’s urbanization process, and for city mayors to better understand the advanced Danish experience, the China Association of Mayors and Grundfos (China) Holding Co., Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Cooperation at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse on November 27th, 2014. Humphrey Lau, Group Senior Vice President & CEO to Grundfos China, and Cui Hengde, Secretary General of China Association of Mayors signed the Memorandum representing the two parties. On the same day, Mads Nipper, the Grundfos Group President met with Tao Siliang, the Executive Vice President of China Association of Mayors to witness the signing ceremony.

- I’m very confident that mayors from China would benefit greatly from the training program both in the classroom and on site visits relating to energy saving and water agenda, said Mme. Tao Siliang.

The Memorandum states that the China Association of Mayors and Grundfos will start a training program in Denmark for Chinese mayors. The training will focus on energy conservation and emission reduction, green urban planning, etc. The goal is to strengthen the overall understanding of sustainable development for Chinese city leaders, and to promote scientific urbanisation progress in China.

- In Grundfos we have a high level and long term commitment to China, it’s privileged cooperating with China Association of Mayors on a long-term basis in order to make a consistent contribution to green growth in the cities of China, said Grundfos Group President, Mads Nipper.

Diplomatic relations strengthened through photography

To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark, the two parties agreed to organise a series of activities named “Chinese and Danish Cities in the Eyes of Photographers” under the theme of urban sustainability. Selected photos will be published and further more exhibited respectively in 3-5 cities in both countries.

On 24th April, 2014, Mr.Xi Jinping, the President of China and H.M. Margrethe II, the Queen of Denmark witnessed the signing of the MoU in Beijing by the Executive Vice President of China Association of Mayors, Mme. Tao Siliang and the Vice Chairman of Local Government Denmark and the Mayor of Rudersdal Municipality, Mr. Jens Ive.
