It has never been more important to minimise energy consumption

According to calculations from the European Commission, more than 85% (a) of the EU’s building stock is expected to still be in use by 2050. This poses serious concerns for our climate as older buildings can use up to 20x (b) more energy than newer, energy-efficient ones. Unfortunately, only 1% (c) of these older buildings are being energy-renovated each year.

If we hope to reduce global CO2 emissions, generate huge energy savings and achieve the goals set out by the EU’s Climate Action Plan, it is essential that we prioritise energy renovations and improve the performance of our existing building stock.

Join the energy renovation wave!

The energy renovation wave is currently experiencing a huge surge as more and more building owners begin to demand energy efficient solutions. This is your chance to tap into the vast potential of the market. You can help your customers minimise both energy and water consumption and ensure they achieve their climate objectives by introducing them to the benefits of sustainable pumping solutions.

Why energy renovations?

Buildings account for 40% of the EU’s total energy consumption and 36% of its total CO2 emissions (d)

35% of building stock is more than 50 years’ old (d)

75% of older buildings have poor energy ratings (d)

Only 1% of older buildings are energy-renovated each year (c)

What is possible?

Older buildings have the greatest potential for energy renovations as they require more heating

Correctly balanced heating systems can deliver energy savings of 1-7% in private homes and up to 15% in older, larger buildings (e)

Energy-efficient pump solutions have the potential to create sustainable living spaces fit for the future.

What needs to change?

Inefficient pumps must be replaced with energy-efficient solutions to minimise energy consumption

Heating systems should be balanced to save more energy

Existing building stock should be refurbished with sustainable pumps to reduce global CO2 emissions and deliver positive environmental changes

Environmental product declarations can unlock more business potential

It’s increasingly important that you know and understand the environmental impact of any pumping solution you use. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are crucial to describing the environmental footprint left by a product throughout its lifecycle. In fact, choosing products with an EPD can increase the likelihood of obtaining BREEAM certification for a building project.

The Grundfos MAGNA3 is the first circulator pump to receive an EPD. Designed for heating and cooling installations in residential buildings, MAGNA3 can make a significant difference to a building’s energy consumption and help building owners achieve their climate goals
