The Situation

Narayana Health, founded in 2000, is one of India's largest hospital groups. With a network of over 21 hospitals nationwide Narayana Health is committed to delivering specialized health care through advanced energy efficiency and sustainable practices.

Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, situated at the NH Health City, Bommasandra Industrial Area at Bengaluru, operates an extensive facility with 606 beds and intensive care units, necessitating the maintenance of stringent thermal conditions critical for patient recuperation and the efficient healthcare services.

However, the hospital has faced significant challenges due to inefficient HVAC systems. These outdated pumps consumed an overwhelming 551,880 kW annually, contributing to a substantial carbon footprint of 396 tonnes of CO, each year impacting their OPEX.

To address these operational challenges and align with global environmental standards, Narayana Health was in need of innovative and efficient solutions to modernize its HVAC systems and to reduce its carbon footprint, thereby staying on its target towards sustainability.

By supplying our high-efficiency NB pumps, we helped Narayana Health achieve a 23% reduction in energy consumption, saving 1.04 million INR annually underscoring our commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

The Solution

Grundfos along with its channel partner joined hands with Narayana Healthcare's O&M team and conducted an effective and comprehensive evaluation of the pumps in chiller plant. These precise measurements, revealed inefficiencies in three aging pumps.

Grundfos proposed a comprehensive retrofit strategy to replace the existing units with advanced, efficient models. This approach aims to significantly enhance performance, reduce energy consumption, and align with sustainability goals.

The Outcome

The decision to upgrade their HVAC system was not merely a technical enhancement but a pledge to foster a healthier, more sustainable future. This collaboration not only met sustainability targets but also enhanced patient comfort and care.
