Podcast: Achieving sustainability in commercial buildings

In the Middle East’s hot climate, people are relying more and more on innovative cooling technology and smart building systems to reduce energy consumption and improve comfort at the same time. Ganga Prasad, Regional Director for Sales Development CBS in IMEA, recently stopped by the Construction Voices podcast, to discuss the topic of sustainable commercial buildings among other things.

Around 30-40% of the energy consumption in these buildings goes towards air conditioning. Of that, there is a possibility to save a further 40% of energy. So, that is the kind of opportunity we say and what we are trying to address through our solutions.

For Grundfos, sustainable commercial buildings are an area of keen interest, and it’s no secret that we see key possibilities in this. This is one of the first things Ganga Prasad explains to host Julianne Tolentino upon explaining the opportunities Grundfos sees in sustainable built  environments in the Middle East:

“Around 30-40% of the energy consumption in these buildings goes towards air conditioning. Of that, there is an option to save a further 40% of energy. So, that is the kind of opportunity we say and what we are trying to address through our solutions.”

Over the course of the 30 minutes, Prasad also details the importance of collaboration with other organisations, governments and stakeholders to promote sustainable construction processes, as well as numerous other topics, including:

  • Digital initiatives and how they can help reduce energy consumption.
  • Why it’s important to be flexible and embrace retrofitting.
  • Visions for Grundfos’ future, including how Grundfos plans to be net-zero by 2050.
  • Tips and tricks on how individuals can contribute to creating more sustainable buildings.
