Plumbers have their day in Oman

Grundfos has continued to expand its focus on the domestic installation market with two further ‘Plumber’s days’ in Oman. 

Organised in conjunction with local partner and distributor Oman Pumps, the events, in Muscat’s Ghubrah district on March 22nd and a week later at the nearby coastal city of Seeb, followed the popular ‘Plumber’s Day’ format first used by Grundfos late last year, and were designed to bring local tradesmen up to date with the latest pump products and installation techniques, as well as refreshing their knowledge of some existing favourites.

As usual, the days started with introductions and the chance to meet or catch up with other tradesmen from the area. This was followed by presentations on a range of the more popular domestic pumps, including the Grundfos PF pump, widely used for providing pressurised water in domestic supply systems, the SB submersible pumps for clean water pumping and JPC jet pumps for rainwater systems. The PM pressure manager, a device for controlling domestic water pumps according to demand was also high on the agenda.

The tradesmen were shown how to install the pumps quickly and efficiently using best practice installation techniques and, following each session an interactive question and answer period enabled them to raise any questions they had with installation and technical specialists from Grundfos and Oman Pumps. The session included a series of questions to test participants’ knowledge of the topics covered, with spot prizes for correct answers.

The highlight of each event, however, again turned out to be a hands-on competition, when installers were invited to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in a speed test to fit a PM pressure manager to a JPC jet pump, with a grand prize for fastest correct installation.

Feedback from both events was very positive, with plumbers amazed at the trouble Grundfos and Oman Pumps had taken to make the events relevant to their everyday work, and to include the audience in interactive Q & A sessions throughout, so that any questions could be answered there and then.

They were also pleased with the focus on both electrical and mechanical issues of pump installation, as well as key issues like pump failure, which made the events more relevant to their day- to-day jobs.
