In this module, we will explore practical installation guidance for ALPHA and UPSe pumps, covering mounting, pump and conduit box positioning, and power connector assembly. Let’s get started.

First, ensure you have all the relevant items:
An ALPHA or UPSe pump
Two gaskets
A power connector
A check valve
Got them all? Good, let’s continue.

Step 1 –– mount the pump
First identify the arrows on the ALPHA or UPSe pump housing. They indicate the flow direction through the pump.

Next, fit the two gaskets and the check valve supplied with the pump when you mount it on the pipe. Ensure you install the pump with a horizontal motor shaft within ± 5°. Tighten the fittings.

Step 2 –– conduit box positioning
 
The standard position the conduit box comes in is the 9 o'clock position. When installing ALPHA and UPSe pumps with a standard flange in heating applications, you can position the conduit box in 12, … 3… 6... ...and 9 o'clock positions. However, when the flange is rotated, the conduit box can only be in the 3… ...and 9 o'clock positions.
 
If you wish to change the conduit box position for ALPHA and UPSe pumps: Tighten the bolts before closing the isolating valves.

The pumped liquid may be scalding hot and under high pressure Remove the four screws.
Turn the pump head to the desired position Insert and cross-tighten the screws.
Connect wires The ALPHA and UPSe pumps come with a tool-less lever connector which enables wiring to be done outside the conduit box.

Step 1 Remove the lid from the conduit box and attach a conduit gland and a conduit to the knock-out hole.
Step 2 Strip the wires. Insert them into the conduit.
Step 3 Open the conductor levers and connect the wires to the power connector.
Step 4 Secure the wires by closing the conductor levers
Step 5 Place the power connector into the conduit box
Step 6 Fasten the conduit box lid with the two screws.
