Mixing loop
Heating systems supplying consumers with different needs (radiator, in-floor, surface heating) and zones have varied demands for flow and temperature. Controlling the flow and temperature for each type of consumer and/or one zone of the building is done with a mixing loop.
The flow and temperature will be the same or lower than in the mains supply. Due to variations in heat demand, a speed-controlled mixing loop pump is preferable. This makes it possible to obtain the maximum energy savings.
When using a 2-way control valve, the main pump will control pressure loss in the valve. Grundfos pumps are typically a part of heating systems where a mixing loop is used.
