We focus on developing products and solutions that enable energy and water efficiency, as well as circularity and reduced material use.
Working with product sustainability
We’re dedicated to creating innovative products and solutions that promote energy and water efficiency, circularity, and reduced material usage. Our close collaboration with suppliers ensures we minimise our environmental impact.
We take pride in matching our customers with the most suitable products and solutions, tailored to meet their specific needs. We’re driven to continuously enhance our operational efficiency, reducing our overall footprint while prioritising the health, safety and well-being of our employees. Additionally, we work closely with our partners to lower emissions from logistics.
Life Cycle Assessments
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) evaluates the environmental impact associated with all stages of a pump or product life. Early LCAs performed on Grundfos pumps since the 1990s found that the pump use-phase accounts for a large proportion of its total environmental impact. This realisation, along with former CEO Niels Due Jensen’s dedication to sustainability, led to the strong focus on energy efficiency we continue to this day.
An LCA is a prerequisite for issuing an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), an objective, verifiable document of a product’s environmental data. EPDs support green building schemes that focus on sustainable building components.
Transparency and accountability are cornerstones of our approach to product declarations. We are actively engaged in developing third-party verified EPDs for our product portfolio, and currently have verified EPDs for selected products. They can be found here (search for “Grundfos” in the Manufacturer column).
We turn waste into resources
Grundfos is already making a positive environmental impact by turning waste into resources.
The circular economy aims to eliminate waste by finding ways to reduce, reuse, repair, remanufacture and recycle as much as possible, while lowering our dependency on finite resources.
Successful examples where we recover valuable resources include our Take Back Programme, where we take back end-of-life pumps from our customers and ensure optimal recycling of the materials.
Packaging disposal guidance
The correct disposal of packaging is fundamental for optimising the recycling process. Packaging materials should be correctly disposed of into separate collection containers, then sorted and recycled according to the provisions of your local authority. The symbols included on the packaging material will help you identify the material in order to perform the correct separation.

Product end-of-life information
Grundfos provides end-of-life information for our products, to have a uniform information system on how they can be handled once they have reached the end of their usability.
The disassembly of Grundfos products can generally be carried out using commonly available tools.
Chemicals
As part of our commitment to product compliance we have devised the Grundfos Focus List, which bans or restricts the use of certain chemical substances in Grundfos products, production processes and at Grundfos facilities. The list has been developed with regard to European legislation such as the REACH regulation, RoHS, Battery, Packaging, ODS and POPs directives.
Application consideration
If a product has been used in an application such as pumping chemical liquids, consideration must always be given to whether it needs to be handled with special care, in accordance with national legislation.
End-of-Life information for our products can be accessed via the below links.

Product chemical compliance
As part of a high focus on product compliance we have devised the Grundfos Focus List, which bans or restricts the use of certain chemical substances in Grundfos products, production processes and at Grundfos facilities. The list has been developed with regard to European legislation such as REACH regulation, RoHS, Battery, Packaging, ODS and POPs directives.
Product Chemical Compliance Declaration
In regard to REACH Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, article 33
At Grundfos, we strive to run our business in a responsible and ever more sustainable way. We are committed to creating products and solutions that help our customers and the surrounding world conserve natural resources and reduce climate impact. This is a fundamental part of our values, as well as in accordance with Grundfos’ business strategy which sets sustainability as a continued business driver.
Grundfos products manufactured and placed on the market within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) comply with the REACH Regulation as regards:
REACH Regulation, (EC) 1907/2006
- Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC)
- Restriction List, Annex 17
- Authorisation List, Annex 14
Grundfos strives to substitute all Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) that are found in our raw materials, components and products in a concentration above 0.1% (w/w).
Identification of REACH SVHCs
Based on our investigations and information from our suppliers regarding REACH article 33, we have identified the below listed SVHCs in concentrations above 0.1% in the following Grundfos products/articles.
Supplier obligations
All suppliers of raw materials and components to Grundfos are under contractual obligation to comply with the European chemical legislation, hereunder the REACH Regulation.
To ensure that Grundfos is compliant we have taken the following initiatives:
- Grundfos has launched the Grundfos Focus List in order to give our suppliers, contractors and other relevant stakeholders worldwide a tool to help comply with chemical legislation. The Grundfos Focus List bans or restricts the use of certain chemical substances in Grundfos products, Grundfos production processes and at Grundfos facilities.
- Grundfos continuously performs audits of their suppliers to ensure compliance with their contractual obligation to comply with the chemical legislation.
